Woodville: “We gave them our trust. They betrayed us.”

Woodville: “This is the book of the people.”

Sfx: Hailing whistle.

Nichelle Nichols as Uhura: “Captain Kirk – bridge to Captain Kirk.”

Shatner: “Kirk here.”

Woodville: “I cannot.”

Shatner: “Anything on communication, Lt. Uhura?”

Nichols: “No, sir. All bands clear.”

Shatner: “Mr. Scott, you have the conn.”

James Doohan as Mr. Scott: “Aye, sir.”

James Doohan as the voice of the Oracle: “Do you now give your consent?”

Kelley: “Well, we better get to the control room.”

Nimoy: “Correct, Captain.”

Nimoy: “Correct.”

Kelley: “He’s dead.”

Music: Dramatic stinger.

Kelley: “I’ve made my decision.”

Woodville: “Once done, it is done.”

Kelley: “Let it be done.”

Sfx: Enterprise doors opening and closing.

Kelley: “I’ll be most effective on the job in the time left if you’ll keep this to yourself.”

William Shatner as Kirk: “What's the emergency?”

Woodville: “It is not in the manner of the people to hide their feelings.”

Shatner: “Mr. Spock and I will handle this.”

Kelley: “Without me, Jim? You’d never find your way back.”

Majel Barrett as Nurse Christine Chapel: “A lot can happen in a year.”

Nimoy: “Your hemoglobin count is back to normal, which indicates that each cell of your body is back up to its abundantly energetic level.”

Kelley: “Tastes like an ancient herb derivative.”

Shatner: “That knowledge seems to be forbidden.”

Sfx: Thunder.

James Doohan as the voice of the Oracle: “Learn what it means to be our enemy before you learn what it means to be our friend.”

Shatner: “Now, listen to me! Hear me out!”

Woodville: “Does McCoy find me attractive?”

Kelley: “Oh, yes... Yes, I do.”

Woodville: “I wish you to stay here, on Yonada, as my mate.”

Kelley: “...But, we are strangers to each other.”

Woodville: “But, is not that the nature of men and women, that the pleasure is in the learning of each other?”

Kelley: “... Yes.”

Nimoy: “Do we have maximum magnification, Lieutenant?”

George Takei as Sulu: “Yes, sir.”

Nimoy: “They seem to have amassed a great deal of medical knowledge.”

Nimoy: “I believe it is time to move on.”

Woodville: “There is something I must say.”

Woodville: “Forgive him, for he was an old man, and old men are sometimes foolish.”

Shatner: “Personally, I find the lady’s taste questionable, but she obviously prefers you, and you obviously don’t seem to mind.”

Nimoy: “Informing these people they are on a ship may be in violation of the Prime Directive of Star Fleet Command.”

James Doohan as the voice of the Oracle: “Proceed.”

Woodville: “It is written that those of the people who sin or speak evil shall be punished.”

Shatner: “We’ll accept any punishment you decree!”

Woodville: “I do not fear the punishment of disobedience.”

James Doohan as the voice of the Oracle: “It is blasphemy! You are forbidden! The punishment is death!”

Sfx: Thunder.

Woodville: “Why not remain here? Rest – we will talk.”

Shatner: “Full sensor probe, Mr. Spock.”

Sfx: Spock pushing buttons at his work station on the bridge.

Lormer: “So they say also.”

Music: Stinger.

Lormer: “Things are not as they teach us.”

Woodville: “Strangers have come to our world. They bear instruments we do not understand.”

Woodville: “Take them.”

DeForest Kelley: “He has one year to live, at the most.”

Woodville: “Let the thought rest in your heart.”

Woodville: “Is truth not truth for all?? ... I must know the truth of the world!”

Woodville: “I understand the great purpose of the creators. I shall honor it.”

Woodville: “I am Natira, the high priestess of the people. Welcome to the world of Yonada.”

Shatner: “I can’t say I think much of your welcome.”

Woodville: “You do not seem well. It is distressing to me.”

Kelley: “Oh, no, I’m quite all right, thank you.”

Woodville: “What happened?”

Shatner: “We don’t know. He just suddenly screamed in pain and died.”

Nimoy: “May I ask precisely what is troubling the doctor?”

Woodville: “Who are you?”

Woodville: “For what reason do you visit this world?”

Shatner: “We come in friendship.”
